Punjab University to set up genome laboratory The board of governors of 'The Centre for Excellence in Molecular Biology' has decided to establish a research laboratory for stem cell research and for its Genomic Programme. This centre is a part of the Punjab University. Dr Riazuddin, director of the Centre provided information on various research and academic activities in the field of transgenic crops. Also discussed were issues like DNA applications for forensic purposes, transgenic technology in plants and bio-safety guidelines.
